पीएसबी मध्ये असणारे प्रभावशाली स्फुरद विरघळणारे जिवाणू पिकांना जमिनीतून दिल्याने जमिनीत असणारा अविघटित स्वरुपातील स्पुर्धचा विघटन करून पिकांना उपलब्धा करून देण्याचे काम करतात.
हे कमी आण्विक वजन (मोलिक्युलर वेट) असलेले सेंद्रिय आम्ल (Organic Acids) सोडण्याशी संबंधित आहे ज्याद्वारे ते अविद्राव्य फोस्फेट्चे रूपांतरण विद्राव्य फॉस्फेट मध्ये करतात. त्यामुळे रासायनिक खतांची अवलम्बित्व आपोआप कमी होण्यास मदत होते.
पीएसबी वापरल्याणे एडिनोसिक ट्रायफॉस्फेट (ATP) तयार होण्यास मदत होते, परिणामी पिकांचे उत्पादने वाढते. फॉस्फरस हा पिकांना अन्नांनिर्मितीसाठी तसेच मुलांच्या वाढीसाठी अत्यंत उपयुक्त आहे.
पीएसबी च्या वापराने वनस्पतीमधील पेशींची विभागणी होऊन पेशींचा विकास होण्यास मदत होते.
